KILL DEVIL HILLS — Alfreda Buckner Stanley, 74, of Kill Devil Hills, NC gained her wings on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Born in Craven County, NC on May 8, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Elizabeth Mercer Buckner and Luther Allen Buckner.

Alfreda is survived by two daughters, Lisa Latham (Logan Pugh) and Melissa Garza (Ray Garza); seven grandchildren, Christopher Garza, Brittany Mason (Ben Mason), Cristina Garza, Jonathan Garza (Fiona Gao), Alexander Garza, Jessica Latham (Blake Crostic), and Rebecca Dalli (Terry Dalli); seven great-grandchildren; and her loving companion dog, Chase. Also, surviving is a sister, Mattie Jones; and a brother, Johnny Buckner.

In addition to her parents, Alfreda was preceded in death by her husband, John Victor Stanley, Jr.; one sister; and four brothers.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at New Bern Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives for a viewing and visitation Friday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo.
