Anne Marie Feurer, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 in Nags Head, NC. Born in Lowell, MA November 20, 1946, Anne was the eldest of four children. Anne’s childhood was filled with volunteering, singing for her many aunts, and taking her sister Patty on exotic outings including foreign movies and eating crabs in Boston’s North End.
Anne earned her undergraduate degree at Lowell State College and her Masters Degree from Northeastern. While teaching high school in Massachusetts, she met and married the love of her life, Gary Feurer. Over their fifty-year marriage, until his death in 2020, Anne and Gary enjoyed singing in the church choir, spending time with their daughter, and traveling the country and world. Their visits to China and Italy were especially memorable.
Anne worked as a teacher in Massachusetts and Delaware. She eventually specialized as a reading resource specialist at West Park Elementary. There, she started the HOSTS (Helping Our Students to Succeed) program, which paired students with mentors to meet weekly. Anne was an avid reader and lover of poetry. She joined a book group wherever she lived, and started one if one didn’t exist. Anne is remembered by those who knew and loved her as a kind, caring, generous soul who always kept a beautiful garden wherever she lived.
Always remembering birthdays and special occasions- Anne gave the most thoughtful, meaningful gifts. She was an active volunteer who gave freely of her time and her gifts. She also kept a beautiful, peaceful home, with many beloved pet dogs. Besides her family and friends, she was a chocolate lover. She loved chocolate so much she only allowed herself to eat it on Sunday.
Anne spent her later years caring for Gary after his major stroke, with the help of her brother, Peter and her daughter Maria. She later moved to North Carolina to be close to Maria and her family. Anne’s final days were spent watching her grandson, Tyler grow up. Anne was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Gary Feurer; brothers Peter Mulholland and John Mulholland; and parents William and Marie Mulholland.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria Feurer and Mike Hamilton; grandson Tyler; sister, Patricia Mulholland; several nieces and nephews; and extended family members.
