Benjamin Dane Lewis fulfilled his earthly mission peacefully on March 30, 2023, at the family home in Kill Devil Hills. He was 40 years old at the time of his untimely passing. Dane, as he was best known, was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
A graduate of Massaponax High School, Dane was handsome, stylish, a dedicated student, and a popular athlete. He was also humorous and witty and a master of the quick comeback. After high school, Dane tried out his wings and left Fredericksburg. Over the years, he learned many skills, took college classes, and practiced various trades.
Eventually, Dane moved to the Outer Banks which he loved since he was a small child. Here, Dane was a valued member with the Sound Feet Shoes team. He enjoyed matching his customers with their perfect shoe. Dane made many friends throughout his sales career. At work or at play, Dane lit up any room he entered.
While working at Home Depot, Dane met and married the love of his life, Angie Gonzales. He loved sunset walks with Angie, their two-year old son, Taylor, as well as playing on the beach with his mom’s dog, Lily. Dane’s departure has left behind a huge void, and he will be missed so very much by all.
Besides his loving wife Angela, and his precious son, Taylor- Dane is survived by his mother Jan Moore; his step-father, Tim Moore; his father, Miller Lewis; his stepmother, Patti Lewis; and numerous other relatives, extended family members, countless close friends, his Sound Feet Shoes family, and his fur-sister, Lily.
The memorial celebration will be held Friday, April 14, 2023, at 1 pm at Gallop Funeral Services in Nags Head. Linda Hamlet will officiate. As Dane would have preferred- please dress comfortably. In lieu of flowers or food, the family gratefully suggests making a donation in Dane’s memory to the Coastal Humane Society at coastalhumanesociety.org and/or to Interfaith Community Outreach (ICO) at interfaithoutreach.com.
