NAGS HEAD — Glenda Spencer James, a beloved daughter, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023, at her home in Nags Head, NC surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 29, 1946, in Elizabeth City, NC to Glenn A. Spencer and Claudia L. Spencer and was a proud resident of Nags Head for the past 35 years.
Glenda was a graduate of Central High School and Martin Community College. She lived a full life enjoying raising her boys while pursuing several businesses. She took pride in owning beauty and tanning salons where she met many friends. She was devoted to her family and had a passion for animals. Glenda bred and showed Quarter horses and adopted two of her most recent dogs. She enjoyed many days surf and pier fishing and was involved in yearly fishing tournaments in Nags Head and Hatteras. She always had the ability to make anyone smile.
She is survived by her mother, Claudia Spencer; brother, Jeffrey Spencer; two sons, Jason James (Blair) and Scott James (Debbie); and grandchildren, Spencer James, Gil James, Ashley Worley, Carly James, and Harley James.
Family and friends are invited to Twiford Colony Chapel at 500 Budleigh St, Manteo, NC, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, December 3, 2023, to reminisce and honor the life of Glenda James.
