MANTEO – Jonathan Chad Jones, 42, of Manteo, NC died Saturday, April 25, 2020.
Born in New Bern, NC on April 10, 1978, he was the son of John Wilson Jones (Rebecca) and the late Bernice Taylor.
A graduate of Manteo High School, Chad began his career as an EMT later becoming a flight paramedic. After earning his pilot’s license, he began serving Dare County as an EMS helicopter pilot. Chad was then promoted to Chief Pilot and Director of Operations for Dare MedFlight.
His reputation as a prankster was second to his heart of gold. He was compassionate and sincere with a willingness to help others and a light that shined for all to see. Chad had a way with words. He enjoyed golfing, playing his guitar, singing, boating, and riding his motorcycle. Most importantly, he was a great man and an even better father. Chad was a member of Manteo Lodge #521 AF & AM.
In addition to his father and stepmother, he is survived by his son, Caleb M. Jones; brother, Ethan Jones; his girlfriend, Suzie Allison; his mentor, Milton Eaton; close family friends, Christie and Anthony Bassi; and his beloved dog, Wilson.
In light of the best practices in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a celebration of Chad’s life will be held in the future.
