MANTEO — 
Larry Lee Dozier, 79, was born on September 14, 1940 in Manteo, NC to Eva Dozier. Larry departed this life on April 16, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. On May 17, 1969 he married Trula Mae Gibbs.
Larry served his country proudly retiring from the United States Army with the rank of Master Sargent. After his military service, Larry was employed with the Dare County Detention Center for several years.
Larry was predeceased by his mother Eva Dozier; his daughter Crystal Spencer; his grandson, Lamor Burton; and his granddaughter, Journey Spencer. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Trula Gibbs Dozier; one son, Grady Gibbs; two daughters, Lisa Burton and Arlene Robinson (Rudolph); seven grandchildren, Candence Ross (Harold), Sophia Campbell, Steven Burton, Damion Spencer, Rudolph Robinson, Jr., Michael Robinson, and Reginald Robinson; 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Larry’s three sisters-in-law; Lillie Gibbs, Catherine Byrd, and Bettie Spencer and his devoted cousins Brenda Frasier (Andre), Sandra Case, Horce Case, Patricia Williams (Murry), Teresa Saunders, Melinda Latham, and Haywood Burton as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Time to view has been reserved from 1 pm to 4 pm Friday, April 24, 2020 at Gallop Memorial Chapel Nags Head. All current state mandates concerning personal distancing will be observed. Larry will be laid to rest in Engelhard, NC at a graveside service that will be strictly private.
