AVON — On April 11, 2023, Lt. Belton B. Gray, Sr., USCG, Retired, crossed the bar making port in heaven. Having served his Lord and Savior, his family, and his country faithfully and honorably.
A native of Avon, NC, he was born August 1, 1932, to the late Selina Williams Gray and Fred Gaskins Gray.
Belton is currently rejoicing in heaven with family and friends who have preceded him. Loved ones left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years, Jane Gray; daughter, Lynn Peele (Michael); son, Belton Gray, Jr. (Jenny); grandchildren, Tony Genovese, Steven Genovese (Kristen), Dustin Peele (Catherine), Adriel Gray, Sr., Carolyn Martindell, Jeffrey Martindell (Cassandra), and Sarah Martindell; and great-grandchildren, Harper Genovese, Truitt Genovese, and Adriel Keenan Gray, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Heritage Church Avon with Pastor Bryan Gray officiating. Private burial will take place in the Fred G. Gray family cemetery.
