VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Nan Lou Little Brown, 95, of Virginia Beach, VA, longtime resident of Manteo, NC, died Thursday, May 21, 2020, at the Commonwealth Senior Living at King’s Grant House.
Born in Winterville, NC on April 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Cora Branch and Charles F. Little.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian E. Brown, Jr.; and her son, Adrian E. Brown III. She was the last living sibling of her immediate family. Her brother James and his wife Delores, brother Charlie and his wife Lib; and sister Ruth and her husband Jim have already been called to the Lord.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Charles M. Brown and wife Beverly, son Kim Brown and wife Julie; daughter-in-law Beverly Brown; and many grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
After earning her degree from East Carolina University, Nan was a schoolteacher retiring after 30-years.
She was active in her faith as a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She often competed in the Outer Banks Senior Games. She loved swimming, traveling, card and board games, eating, and most importantly spending time with her family.
A private family funeral will be held. Entombment will take place at Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens.
