KITTY HAWK — Patricia Louise Pielmeier, born on January 7, 1945, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully from this life on November 9, 2024, in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, at the age of 79. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Patricia was known for her warmth and ability to make everyone she met feel welcome and loved.
A graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School, class of 1962, Patricia dedicated her professional life to serving others. She retired after a distinguished career as the Pensioner for the Operative Plasterers’ & Cement Masons’ International Association. Her work was characterized by dedication and an unwavering commitment to supporting those around her.
Patricia’s passion for service extended beyond her professional career. Initially volunteering with the Hospice of the Chesapeake, she was quickly embraced by the organization and offered a position in HR administration. Upon moving to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Patricia continued her volunteer work with Talbot Hospice, where she served as an in-home visitor and end-of-life doula, providing comfort and companionship to those in their final days.
In 2023, Patricia made the move to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, to be closer to her family. Her later years were spent surrounded by the love and laughter of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
Patricia was preceded in death by her first husband, David Michael Pielmeier, her daughter Jennifer Turner, grandson Nicholas Pielmeier, her parents William F. and Frances I. Casey, her in-laws Eugene and Madeline Pielmeier, and her siblings Rose Mary Grant, Mary Jo Smith, and William Casey, Jr.
She leaves behind a loving family: her devoted husband Edward Franklin Sclichter of Trappe, MD; her daughter Rebecca Seal (John Forrest) of Kitty Hawk, NC; her sons Andrew Pielmeier (Linda) of Altoona, PA, and Douglas Pielmeier (Beth Ann Cvrkel) of Falls Church, VA. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Jacob Pielmeier of Winchester, VA, Zachary Adams (Michelle) of Newport News, VA, Noah Adams (Katie) of Osterville, MA, and Samuel Adams of Kitty Hawk, NC, as well as her great-grandchild Alexander Adams. She is also survived by her sisters Veronica Shaffer of Massachusetts and Kathleen Valentino of Pennsylvania, her brother Michael Casey of Tennessee, cherished step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service honoring Patricia’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake – Anne Arundel County, MD, Talbot Hospice Foundation- Easton, MD, or Adoration Hospice – Nags Head, NC. Patricia’s legacy of compassion and service will continue through these contributions, reflecting the love and care she bestowed upon all who knew her.
