NAGS HEAD — Sally Moore Herbert Roof, born on November 28, 1939, in Halifax County, NC, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, at the age of 85 in Nags Head, NC.
She devoted her life to being a homemaker, creating a nurturing and loving home for her family. Her kitchen was always filled with delightful aromas, as she was known for her exceptional culinary skills. In her younger years, Sally was an avid tennis player, enjoying both the challenge and camaraderie of the game. Sally also had a love for visiting casinos, where she found excitement in games and the atmosphere. For her, it was an opportunity to enjoy life and have fun. Sally always enjoyed traveling, whether to a foreign country or a family trip. Sally was always up for a new, fun experience.
A woman of faith, Sally was a member of Englewood Presbyterian Church in Rocky Mount, NC.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ethel Moore Herbert and Willie Herbert.
Sally leaves behind her devoted husband, Lanny Michael Roof; daughters, Scotty Blanchard (Jim) and Katherine Roof (Grey Honaker); son, Chris Roof (Jodi); grandchildren, Sarah Scott Blanchard, James Blanchard (Skylar), Henry Honaker, Keaton Roof, and Maggie Roof; and a great-grandson, Harrison James Blanchard. Her family will forever cherish the warm memories and love she shared with them.
A private family service will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate Sally’s life. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and support extended to them during this time.
