October 23, 1957 – November 13, 2019
MANTEO –Thomas Foster Bowser was born October 23, 1957, to Cecil and Catherine Bowser in Manteo, NC. “Fred”, as he was affectionately known, went home to be with the Lord on November 13, 2019.
Thomas was educated at Manteo High School and upon graduation, he entered the United States Army. He later retired from the NC Marine Maintenance Ferry Division as Paint Supervisor.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, LaToya Starr Shelby; his mother, Catherine Bowser; four sisters, Elnora and Mary Bowser of Maryland and Gilda and Catherine Bowser of Manteo, NC; two brothers, Roland Bowser or Manteo, NC and Melvin Bowser (Irma) of Hinesville, GA; loving nieces, Teresa, Anissa, and Deidre; nephews, Ray, Keith, Cecil III, Anthony, Arthur, Alfred, and Jonathan; great-nieces and nephews, family members and friends. Thomas also leaves to mourn his extended family of the home, a special friend, Amy Hill; Lakayla Hill-Melton (Kenny); James Edward Hill III; Eliza and Michelle Spencer and Clara Basnight. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Bowser, Sr.; and two brothers, Johnny Pledger and Cecil Bowser, Jr.
Thomas was special to everyone because everyone was special to Thomas.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo. Burial with military honors will follow at Haven Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives for viewing and visitation Friday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
