BUXTON — William Phillip Vancura, age 90, passed away on May 24, 2023, in Buxton, NC. He was born on May 1, 1933, in Baltimore, MD, to his parents Mary Kohler and William S. Vancura.
Having served his country honorably, William was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a hardworking lineman for the electric company and was well-loved in his community.
William had many interests, including hunting, fishing, woodworking, and street race cars. He was also known to be quite the jokester. William was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Seas Catholic Parish and was an active member of his church community.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Kohler and William S. Vancura, and his wife, Mary Vancura. He is survived by three sons, Mark Vancura (Debra), Tim Vancura (Beth), and Jeff Vancura (Betsy); and three great-grandchildren, Zack, Danielle, and Nicole.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate William’s life and the many memories he has left with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
