MANTEO — William “Sonny” C. Bush, 72, of Manteo, NC died Monday, January 11, 2021, at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center.
Born in Dublin, GA on January 25, 1948, he was the son of the late Geraldine Baum Bush and George Bush.
In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Cantrell-Bush.
He is survived by two children, Allen Bush and Jarrett Bush (Crystal) both of Manteo, NC; two grandchildren, Julie Marie Bush and Sarah Ann Bush; four siblings, Martha Johnson (Russell) of Harmony, NC, Frankie Eaton (Walt) of Ormond Beach, FL, Annette Berry of Camden, NC, and JP Bush (Connie) of Newport News, VA; and family friend, Velvet Andrews of Engelhard, NC.
Sonny spent many years in Hyde County where he worked at Pamco Implement, Inc. and made crab pots in the family business while also being a Boy Scout and 4-H leader. In Dare County, he worked for Dare County Transportation. He was a lifetime woodworker and together with his late wife they made lighthouse replicas as Elayne’s Woodcrafts. Sonny loved fishing and his family.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service at this time. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity in his name.
