The Outer Banks Group includes Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Wright Brothers National Memorial, and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site.
Dowdle is currently the chief ranger at Boston National Historical Park where he works closely with a multitude of communities, partner groups, and surrounding federal, state, and local agencies. A native North Carolinian, he is a graduate of Clemson University and the FBI National Academy.
He has worked in numerous national parks including Yosemite National Park in California, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Rainbow Bridge National Monument in Utah and Arizona, Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming and Montana, and Chiricahua National Monument and Fort Bowie National Historic Site in Arizona.
“Mark Dowdle has extensive experience in dealing with complex issues and by all accounts has outstanding communication and management skills,” stated Superintendent Trimble. “Mark will be a tremendous help in managing the many challenging issues faced by the three parks of the Outer Banks Group.”
The Dowdle family will move to the Outer Banks in mid-May 2014. “I look forward to the opportunity to work with the great team in the Outer Banks Group and being part of the Outer Banks community,” stated Dowdle.
