Visitors to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore (CHNS), regardless of vaccination status, are now required to wear masks inside all park buildings, per a recent update from the Seashore.

The mandate follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidance regarding areas of substantial or high COVID-19 transmission, which includes Dare County, where there is a high level of community spread.

The requirement includes all indoor facilities within the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, including the Discovery Center on Ocracoke Island, the Visitors Center at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, and all indoor sites and attractions at the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills and the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site on Roanoke Island.
