UPDATE: Solar project completed, first energy rights sold
Construction of Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative’s Community Solar Garden has been completed and the project was energized in late February.
The 50kW project, made up of 180 solar panels, is located at milepost 71 in Hatteras village. CHEC members can purchase rights to the energy output of one of the array’s panels for a one-time fee of $685 and will receive a monthly bill credit for the average energy produced.
The first CHEC member to purchase energy rights from the project was the Hatteras Village Civic Association.
