Hatteras Island Opens for Residents, Property Owners and Workers; Visitors Allowed Back on Sunday
Dare County Emergency Management (DCEM) announced on Saturday afternoon that reentry guidelines for Hatteras Island have been established. Beginning today, Saturday, September 15 at 2:30 p.m., Priority Levels Two and Three will be allowed access. This includes residents, property owners and workers.
Hatteras Island visitors will be allowed access beginning on Sunday, September 16 at 3:00 p.m.

DECM advises travelers to keep in mind that there is still standing water and sand along some areas of N.C. Highway 12. Proceed with caution and drive slowly through standing water as creating wake will cause damage to vehicles and
nearby properties.
Those traveling to Dare County are advised to check road conditions for travel routes to the Outer Banks due to impacts being experienced in areas south and west.
A state of emergency remains in place for all of Dare County. Ocean conditions remain hazardous and ocean swimming remains prohibited.
