UPDATE: Public comment on tri-villages zoning set for Oct. 28
The Dare County Planning Board will meet at the Rodanthe Community Center on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. to receive public input on a draft zoning proposal for the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo.
Property owners and residents of the community are encouraged to attend and share their comments with the Planning Board.
Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo are currently zoned S-1, a minimal zoning district that permits all uses. The draft proposal identifies four use-specific districts for the communities. A copy of the draft map and associated district regulations is posted on the Dare County Planning Department webpage at www.darenc.com.
The purpose of the meeting is to receive input from the community on the draft map. The proposal was presented to the community by the Planning Board at a meeting held last month.
“Public input is a vital component of any zoning proposal. I hope residents and property owners will attend the meeting to share their thoughts and concerns.” said Donna Creef, Dare County Planning Director. “This meeting is an opportunity for the community to tell the Planning Board what adjustments or revisions are needed before a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners is made by the Planning Board.”
No official recommendation will be made at the Oct. 28 meeting. Following the meeting, all comments will be reviewed by the Planning Board and appropriate adjustments made to the draft map and associated district regulations.
