A legal group has not pursued further challenge to a state permit allowing construction of the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge.
The Southern Environmental Law Center, representing the Defenders of Wildlife and the National Wildlife Refuge Association, had 30 days to petition a state Superior Court judge in Wake or Dare counties to review a denial on Oct. 23 by the chairman of the state Coastal Resources Commission for a hearing request on the bridge permit.
Michele Walker, CRC spokeswoman, said that no action has been filed as of this week to ask for judicial review. It is a state holiday on Thursday and Friday, and the courts are closed.
SELC attorney Julie Youngman and SELC spokeswoman Kathleen Sullivan did not respond to requests for comment.
The Major CAMA permit, issued in September, had been put on hold when SELC filed its request on Oct. 8. It was reactivated at Chairman Robert Emory’s denial.
