CHEC plans brief outage for Tuesday night, Nov. 11

Share post:

The Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative is planning a brief power outage for Hatteras and Ocracoke islands after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

CHEC will switch to generators in order to energize the new Mirlo Beach transmission line.

There will also be a brief interruption of power at the conclusion of the work, which is expected to last all night.

The islands will be served by limited diesel generators during the outage.  If the power load exceeds the generator capacity, there will be more extended outages.

In case of rain, the work will be done on Wednesday night, Nov. 12, at the same time.

If your electric power does not return following the planned outage, call 866-511-9862.
