Coast Guard assists disabled vessel south of Hatteras Inlet
On Saturday, June 17, at approximately 12:40 p.m., U.S. Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet received notice that a 23’ Hydra Sport with two people on board had lost power seven nautical miles south of Hatteras Inlet, and had limited communications.
Commercial salvage was unable to respond, so a 47’ motor lifeboat (MLB) got underway from the Hatteras Inlet Station to assist.
MLB CG47244 departed Hatters at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and arrived on the scene an hour later. They passed a radio to the disabled vessel, and put them in a skiff hook stern tow.
The Coast Guard crew safely moored them at Teach’s Lair Marina at approximately 5:00 p.m. No injuries were reported during the incident.
