Dare Community Housing Task Force to host two Hatteras Island Open Houses on March 27

The Dare Community Housing Task Force, in collaboration with East Carolina University (ECU), invites members of the Dare County community to attend one of two community open house sessions that will be held on Hatteras Island on Thursday, March 27, 2025 to provide an opportunity for residents and property owners to share their perspectives on workforce housing challenges and potential solutions in an informal setting.
Community Open House Events – Thursday, March 27, 2025
- Rodanthe Community Center – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (23646 N.C. Highway 12, Rodanthe)
- Fessenden Center Annex – 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. (47017 Buxton Back Road, Buxton)
Unlike formal public meetings, these open houses are part of a research initiative aimed at understanding the housing needs of the local workforce. The sessions will allow residents to voice their concerns, share their experiences and contribute to shaping future housing strategies in Dare County.
No registration is required, and members of the community are encouraged to attend. For more information, please contact Dr. Misun Hur at 252-328-1270 or via email at hurmi@ecu.edu.
Members of the Dare County community are also encouraged to participate in a survey launched by ECU researchers to assess workforce housing challenges in the Dare County community.
