Dare County releases video on Recovery Court program
Current TV, in partnership with Dare County, has released a new video as part of its Destination Dare series that highlights the Dare County Recovery Court, a program that was developed in March 2019 with the mission of rehabilitating members of the community who are facing criminal charges due to their substance use rather than incarcerating them for their crimes.
The program involves the cooperation of an array of individuals, organizations and agencies throughout Dare County, including the Dare County Board of Commissioners, the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, the Justice Department, the District Attorney and the Saving Lives Task Force—as well as Judge Jerry Tillett, who was instrumental in getting the program started—and Emily Urch, who serves as coordinator of the Recovery Court and also plays an integral role in its operations and the success its participants have had since its inception.
