Ocracoke-mainland ferries suspended on Saturday due to inclement weather
The Ocracoke-Swan Quarter and Ocracoke-Cedar Island ferry operations have been suspended for Saturday, January 13, due to inclement weather and high winds, per an update from the North Carolina Ferry System.
Ferry service for the Ocracoke-mainland routes will resume once weather conditions improve.
The Hatteras-Ocracoke vehicular ferry is running for Saturday, but ocean overwash has been reported on N.C. Highway 12 on the northern end of Ocracoke Island. The highway is open, and North Carolina Department of Transportation crews are working to clear the highway of standing water.
