Plenty of sunshine, 60 degree temperatures forecast for Christmas Day
Santa won’t have to worry about navigating through rough weather to reach the Outer Banks tonight, as the holiday forecast calls for plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures in the high 50s and low 60s throughout Christmas Day.
Per the National Weather Service Newport / Morehead City office, the local weather on Hatteras and Ocracoke islands will stay pleasant and unseasonably warm throughout the week, with temperatures increasing to the mid-60s by the weekend, and highs as much as 10 degrees above average for the late December timeframe.
Eastern N.C. is also in store for a prolonged stretch of mild and dry weather, with the next chance of rain not expected until the end of the week. Northeast winds will diminish to roughly 10 mph by Wednesday as well, making Christmas a great day to head out to the beach.
