Severe Thunderstorms Possible Friday Afternoon and Evening

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are forecast to develop across eastern North Carolina and the Outer Banks starting on Friday afternoon and into early Friday evening, per a recent briefing from the National Weather Service (NWS) Newport / Morehead City Office.

There is the potential for some of these storms to become severe, with damaging wind gusts and large hail the primary threats. Heavy rains and lightning are also possible throughout Hatteras and Ocracoke islands.
