Who’s running in the 2024 elections across the Greater Outer Banks
With North Carolina again holding party primaries during a presidential election year in late winter, that means filing for the 2024 elections took place in December.
The party primaries will be held on Tuesday, March 5. In-person early voting for the begins Thursday, Feb. 15, and runs through 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2. The general election will take place Tuesday, November 5.
Here’s the full rundown of who will be running in the primaries locally in the Greater Outer Banks counties, along with the U.S. Congress, N.C. House and Senate, statewide, judicial, and Presidential Preference primaries.
The congressional and legislative filings are based on maps approved by the General Assembly earlier this year. But legal challenges to those maps have been filed, and could lead to changes that would delay the primaries for U.S. House (click to view map), and N.C. Senate (map) and House (map).
Key: Dem = Democrat; Gre = Green; Lib = Libertarian; Rep = Republican; Un = Unaffiliated; (I) = Incumbent.

Republican Party

The Green Party did not submit any candidates for the primary but may still nominate a candidate for the general election on Nov. 5, based on the candidate chosen by that party’s national nominating convention.
The other recognized political party in North Carolina, the No Labels Party, will nominate its general election candidates by convention rather than primary, under N.C.G.S. § 163-98, since this will be the first general election the party will participate in. The State Board recognized No Labels as a political party earlier this year.
