Buxton Beach Nourishment Update
The new hopper dredge Magdelen arrived last weekend and began pumping sand on Tuesday, January 9. As of Wednesday, January 10, about 76% of the project had been completed.
The project map has been updated to reflect the new location of the landing point/subline. Currently, work is moving south from the new subline to tie in with the completed section of beach to the south, near the village of Buxton. Once completed, work will move north from the current landing point to the project’s northern boundary. To view the updated project map, visit http://bit.ly/BuxtonBN
Weeks Marine reports that an incoming weather system and forecasted heavy seas may require both dredges, Magdalen and RN Weeks, to take shelter in Norfolk until conditions improve.
