HATTERAS — Mildred StoweWillis, 89, of Hatteras, NC entered into Eternal Rest on Monday, June5, 2017. Mildred was born November 3, 1927, to the late Fred AngelStowe and Fannie Peele Stowe.
Mildred loved God and herfamily. She was a member of the Hatteras Assembly of God Church inwhich she was very instrumental in its early formation. She served asan adult Sunday School teacher and musician for many years. Her faithin God was unwavering. Mildred was known for her beautiful singing. “IBowed on My Knees and Cried Holy” and “Above the Bright Blue” wereamong her favorites.
Along with her parents, Mildredwas preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Daniel CarlWillis; son, Alvin Daniel “Danny” Willis; daughter, Judy Faye Willis;daughter-in-law, Johnnie H. Willis; grandson, David Carl Willis; andgreat-grandson, Jacob E. Scott.
Mildred is survived by twosons, Norman C. Willis and Robert L. Willis (Darlene); one daughter,Marlene Burrus (Allen); and her grandchildren whom she loved dearly,Robert Willis, Jr., Dori Slater (John), Michelle Summerlin (Michael),Joshua Burrus, Jonathan Burrus, and Jennifer Hackley (Zachary). Also,thirteen (and one-half) great-great-grandchildren, Robbie, Alysa, Ryan,Allison, Elaina, Mikey, Matthew, Marcus, Maxwell, Madelyn, Mason, Koty,and Mia. She loved her family very much.
A celebration of Mildred’s lifewill be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 9, 2017, at Hatteras Assemblyof God with the Rev. David Daniels officiating. Burial will take placeat the Willis family cemetery. The family will receive friends andrelatives immediately following the service at the home of Marlene andAllen Burrus, 57187 Pricilla Curve Road, Hatteras, NC.
