Cape Hatteras National Seashore lifts beach fire ban
The Cape Hatteras National Seashore (Seashore) has lifted its beach fire ban as of 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10.
The beach fire ban, which went into effect May 30, was a result of extremely dry conditions that increased the risk of beach fires spreading to dune vegetation, forested areas, or developed neighborhoods adjacent to Seashore beaches.
Beach fires at Seashore beaches require a free beach fire permit. To learn more about the permit, go to: https://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/permitsandreservations.htm#Fire. Seashore visitor centers and campgrounds have copies of the beach fire permit.
