Severe Weather Possible Sunday Night into Monday Morning
A developing low pressure will track across South Carolina on Sunday night and Eastern North Carolina on Monday morning, producing widespread showers and thunderstorms, per a Sunday morning update from the National Weather Service (NWS) Newport / Morehead City office.
The main threats will be damaging 55-75 mph wind gusts and isolated tornadoes. The storms will also produce heavy downpours and the potential for localized flooding.
Late tonight and Monday morning is the best chance for severe thunderstorms. There is still uncertainty on the aerial extent of the severe weather threat, which will be dependent on the exact track of the low.
