Dare County Schools’ free Summer Meals program is available through July

Dare County children aged 18 and under can continue to receive free breakfast and lunch this summer, Monday through Friday, through the Dare County Schools’ Summer Meals program.

Locally, meals are available in Buxton at the Cape Hatteras Elementary School, and all meals must be consumed on-site. The program will continue on Hatteras Island through July 27, 2023.

Locations and times for the Dare County Schools’ Summer Meals program are listed below. (Breakfast begins at 7:30-8:00 a.m.)

Starting June 28 through July 27, Mondays-Thursdays

  • Cape Hatteras Elementary, 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Manteo Elementary, 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Nags Head Elementary, 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • First Flight Elementary, 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Beginning July 31 – August 11, meals will be available, Mondays-Thursdays

  • First Flight Elementary, 11:30 – 12:00 p.m.
  • Nags Head Elementary, 11:30-12:00 (meal service end on August 3)
