NCBBA’s last Adopt-a-Beach cleanup event of 2024 will be held Saturday, December 7
The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association (NCBBA) will host its final Adopt-a-Beach cleanup event of 2024 on Saturday, December 7.
The event will be launched from the ORV Ramp 23 parking lot, just south of Salvo, at 9:00 a.m.
“With another Rodanthe house falling into the surf, our beach is covered again with all kinds of debris. We need volunteers, whether you are a member, non-member, resident, or non-resident of the island,” stated the NCBBA in an announcement. “This is your chance to give back to the NCBBA and [to] our Cape Hatteras beach community.”
Volunteers will be asked to drive and walk the beach to the north and south direction looking for trash, liter, boards, burned firewood, etc.
The NCBBA will provide trash bags, grabbers, and vests. It is recommended to bring a five-gallon bucket as well, which is much easier to fill.
“This should be no more than a two-hour commitment,” stated the NCBBA. “We anticipate a minimum of 25 volunteer beach walkers needed to cover the stretch of beach. Each volunteer will be asked to cover a designated area of beach ,which will be marked with stakes. In addition, some drivers will be asked to transport individuals to and from the beach. Volunteers with a truck will also be needed to drive the beach to pick up the filled bags and larger items.
“So, please mark your calendar. Bring your family and friends. The more folks we have the better. Afterwards, Director Carol Mowers will have Jersey Mike’s subs for everyone, along with refreshments and cookies.”
If you can attend the December 7 cleanup, please RSVP at tom.brueckner@ncbba.org or by phone/text message at 973-714-9940.
