DOT wants public feedback on 10-year transportation plan
The N.C. Department of Transportation wants public feedback on its Draft 10-Year State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). This is the first STIP developed under the new Strategic Transportation Investments law, which established the Strategic Mobility Formula.
NCDOT is asking the public to provide feedback on:
The process to develop the STIP and ideas for improvement
The variety and geographic diversity of the projects
The 2016-2025 Draft STIP, is one of the department’s most comprehensive programs ever. The document includes 1,073 projects across all transportation modes and all 100 counties.
NCDOT will hold an information session with a focus the entire state on Thursday, April 23, in Wake Forest. The informal meeting will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre Grant Hall, 405 South Brooks Street, Wake Forest, NC 27587. The public is invited to stop in, ask questions and provide feedback on the process used to develop the Draft STIP.
A live webinar via GoToWebinar will also be available during this meeting for anyone who cannot attend in person.
Webinar details:
The overview will run at the top of each hour – at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

During the past year and a half, NCDOT has been working with the legislature, local planning organizations and other stakeholders across the state to implement the law and develop the 2016-2025 State Transportation Improvement Program.
The Board of Transportation is expected to approve the Final 2016-2025 STIP in June, which will be the final step in implementing STI. Feedback from the information sessions will be used by the Prioritization Workgroup to determine changes to the process for the next round of project prioritization and development of the 2018-2027 STIP.
NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who want to participate in this meeting. Anyone requiring special services should contact Anamika Laad at alaad@ncdot.gov or 919-707-6072 as early as possible so that arrangements can be made.
