Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative warns the public of phone scam

Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative recently warned the public they have had several members report being contacted from an NC-based phone number saying electricity would be turned off unless a payment is immediately made.

Please know that CHEC will never call and demand payment, threatening immediate disconnect.  Members are urged to stay vigilant. If you ever are in question about a call from CHEC, please hang up and call us back at (252)995-5616.
