Dare County Public Works—which provides trash collection for the unincorporated areas of Dare County, as well as the Town of Kitty Hawk—has announced a revised collection schedule in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Residential trash collection for the week of Monday, January 15, through Friday, January 19, will be as follows:

  • Monday, January 15: Closed – No trash collection
  • Tuesday, January 16: Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras
  • Wednesday, January 17: Manteo, Wanchese, East Lake, Manns Harbor, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon
  • Thursday, January 18: Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras
  • Friday, January 19: Manteo, Wanchese, East Lake, Manns Harbor, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon

Commercial trash collection will take place on Tuesday, January 16, and Friday, January 19.

REMINDER: The Dare County Public Works Department only provides trash collection for the Town of Kitty Hawk and the unincorporated areas of Dare County. Unincorporated Dare County does not include areas within a town’s limits.

If you are located within one of the six incorporated towns within Dare County, please contact your municipality for information regarding any trash collection schedule changes in your area.
