HATTERAS– Mary Lou Barnett Gray, 81, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at TheOuter Banks Hospital. Born in Suffolk County, N.Y., she was thedaughter of the late Ellis A. and Caroline Rowland Gray. She retiredfrom quality control with General Electric and also from the Buxton ABCstore and was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Avon.
MaryLou is survived by her husband, Robert Hal Gray of the residence; twosons, Elton R. Barnett Jr. and wife, Beth, of Bradenton, Fla., andTimothy D. Barnett and wife, Renee, of Buxton; two granddaughters,Ashley and Krista Barnett; one great-granddaughter, Kinsley Barnett;two brothers, Ellis A. Gray Jr. and John D. Gray; a sister, Cheryl GrayMcDonald; two stepdaughters, Margaret Easley and Melodi Schwartz; sevenstep-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. In addition to herparents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by a husband, Elton R. Barnett,and a sister, Elizabeth Gaskins.
A viewing will be held onFriday, April 3, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hatteras United MethodistChurch. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 4, at 11 a.m.at the church with the Rev. Ken Davenport and the Rev. Dwight Burrusofficiating with a luncheon to immediately follow. Burial will be atEllis A. Gray Sr. Family Burial Ground in Avon.
