Seasonal Beach Closures and Access Status for the Week of April 13
Several new closures were installed during the week of April 13, and driving in front of the villages closed for the season, per the latest Cape Hatteras Seashore Access Status from the National Park Service.
The beaches in front of the villages are seasonally open for ORVs starting October 15 through April 14, meaning that starting on Saturday, beaches within the island towns will be pedestrian access only.

A nest with two eggs from American Oystercatchers is currently being monitored in Sandy Bay Area.

Law Enforcement:
At approximately 2:00 am on April 10, National Park Service Law Enforcement Rangers, Dare County Sheriff’s Department, and Ocean Rescue, responded to a report of an unresponsive male near Ramp 34 in Avon, North Carolina. Upon arrival on the beach, Rangers discovered a deceased male age 34 from Riverdale, GA. The case is still under investigation and cause of death results pending from medical examiner’s office.
