Access and seashore updates from the National Park Service
The oystercatcher pair at Cape Point is preparing to lay a nest, and the current location of the ORV-only corridor is being modified.
Access to Cape Point remains open via the ORV-only corridor beginning at the end of the bypass road, which is now located closer to the ocean below the high tide line. As such, at high tides, the corridor may become impassable, especially if there are strong winds or any kind of inclement weather.
Please be cognizant of the time of high tide when going to Cape Point, as it is possible for vehicles to be unable to return via the corridor for several hours. National Park Service ranges will be out by the Point at mid-tide trying to let visitors know about the corridor conditions as well.
As a reminder, all priority ORV ramps open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m. All other designated ORV ramps open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m.
