Cape Hatteras Lighthouse wins “Carolina’s Finest” award
Carolina Country, the official magazine of North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives, recently announced the winners of their annual and statewide “Carolina’s Finest” awards, and the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse scored a top spot as the best landmark in North Carolina.
The award, which was voted on by Carolina Country readers, was presented to Superintendent Dave Hallac of the National Park Service by Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative EVP and General Manager, Susan Flythe.
Now in its third year, the Carolina’s Finest contest has become a popular feature in the magazine, which has more than 700,000 subscribers statewide. This year, readers nominated their favorite entries for a number of categories, including best barbecue, burger joint, bakery shop, festival, getaway, main street, family outing, public garden, landmark, and made-in-NC product.
