NCBBA will host Adopt-a-Beach and Adopt-a-Highway clean-ups on March 22

The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association (NCBBA) will hold its first Adopt-a-Beach clean-up of 2025 on March 22, and its first Adopt-A-Highway (AAH) clean-up of 2025 on April 12, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in either event, or both.
“Join the team – Be an active volunteer member,” stated the NCBBA in a recent announcement. “You will have fun, meet new and old friends, and get some exercise.”
Information on both events is below.

The Adopt-A-Beach clean-up
The Adopt-A-Beach will be launched from the ORV Ramp 23 parking lot, just south of Salvo, at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22.
Volunteers will be asked to drive and walk the beach to the north and south directions looking for trash, litter, boards, burned firewood, etc.
The NCBBA will provide trash bags, grabbers, and vests. It is recommended to bring a five-gallon bucket as well, which is much easier to fill.
“We’d love to have about 20-30 volunteers for the Adopt-a-Beach event,” said Tom Brueckner of the NCBBA. “It’s a nice and safe event for children, too.”
The Adopt-A-Highway clean-up

For over 30 years, the NCBBA has been supporting North Carolina’s Adopt-A-Highway program. The area of trash pickup coverage begins on the south end of the Marc Basnight Bridge and goes three miles north on N.C. Highway 12, along both sides of the highway.
The event begins on Saturday, April 12, at the ORV Ramp 4 parking lot at 7:30 a.m. where volunteers are given instructions on what .5-mile area of Highway 12 they will be walking.
NCBBA will be distributing reflective vests, grabbers, gloves, and garbage bags. Participants are advised to dress appropriately for the weather, and boots are recommended.
