Night driving reopens for most off-road vehicle ramps on Friday, September 15
Night driving restrictions will be lifted at many designated ORV ramps within the Cape Hatteras National Seashore starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, September 15.
To find out which ramps will no longer have night driving restrictions, and which ramps will still have opening and closing times due to sea turtle nests, visit http://go.nps.gov/beachaccess any time after 12 p.m. on Friday, September 15.
Beachgoers are also advised to keep an eye on the weather forecast and use caution through the rest of this week as portions of ORV routes on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands may become impassable due to distant Hurricane Lee.
Night driving restrictions may need to be reimplemented at certain ramps in the future, depending on if additional sea turtle nests are laid. The public can access the Cape Hatteras beach access webpage for continued updates on ORV access throughout the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
