Beach Cleanup Updates – May 28, 2024
49 Seashore employees participated in a large-scale cleanup effort today with assistance from Chicamacomico Banks Fire and Rescue and a contractor hired by the property owner. Seashore employees filled 31 pickup trucks with collapsed house debris and unloaded the debris at a nearby parking lot at ORV Ramp 23, just north of Salvo.
The debris collected by Seashore employees and volunteers will be permanently disposed of in the coming days.
Varying amounts of beach debris extend from just south of the house collapse site to more than two miles to the north, within Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. Seashore employees will return to the area tomorrow to complement the volunteer beach cleanup efforts.
Excellent opportunity for the community and visitors to make an impact by assisting with the clean up.
