911 Services Restored in Eastern N.C
UPDATE: The North Carolina 911 Board staff has been notified that 911 service has been fully restored to the eastern part of the state. CenturyLink has replaced a fiber that was cut that resulted in the outage, and Verizon has advised that all counties that had issues with wireless 911 calls now have full-service restoration.
The N.C. 911 Board is responsible for both wireline and wireless 911 communications in the state, as well as related policies and procedures, and it administers the state’s 911 Fund. The fund is used to support equipment purchases for 911 centers in the state. The board is housed with the N.C. Department of Information Technology.
911 Outages Reported in Eastern NC
The North Carolina 911 Board staff is reporting 911 outages across the eastern part of the state. The board staff is working with service providers to ensure service is restored as quickly as possible. Some residents may experience issues with the delivery of 911 calls. Anyone who has difficulty reaching their 911 center should follow local directions regarding alternate numbers to call in an emergency. There are 115 911 centers across the state managed and operated by county or municipal authorities.
