UPDATE: Emergency Stumpy Point-Rodanthe ferry resumes operations
The N.C. Department of Transportation Ferry Division’s emergency route at Stumpy Point that was temporarily suspended today because of low tide resumed operations with a 5 p.m. departure from Stumpy Point and a 6 p.m. departure from Rodanthe.
The Ferry Division has been monitoring water levels all day and several hours ago sent a ferry out to check the channel. The regular 16 departure schedule will resume. However, everyone is reminded that because the channel is so narrow and shallow, there could still be problems as long as the winds continue blowing from the northeast.
