Dare County Schools to operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Jan. 10
With wind speeds predicted to increase late into the evening, coupled with the potential for post-storm tidal flooding and ocean overwash throughout the county, all Dare County Schools (DCS) will operate on a two-hour delay schedule on Wednesday, January 10.
Students and staff should report to their bus stops and/or respective buildings two hours later than the usual start time of a normal school day.
District-wide, Dare County’s buses begin their typical school-day morning runs just before 6:00 a.m. The two-hour delay will move the start of their runs to just before 8:00 a.m.
“High tide is also scheduled to occur during this period affording us the opportunity to determine if additional delays or cancellations are necessary for Wednesday,” stated DCS in an update.
“We understand that changes to the school schedule can pose challenges for your family. Your understanding and cooperation during this uncertain weather forecast are greatly appreciated.”
