Debris removal begins on Ocracoke Island

Per a Sunday evening update, Hyde County’s debris removal contractor has started the debris removal process for Ocracoke Island.

Debris on Ocracoke Island must be separated and piled on the right of way for removal. See the above diagram for instructions on how to separate the debris.

Please be aware that the public beach access is now a temporary debris site, and is closed to the public.

Ocracoke residents will continue to be only be allowed to take household trash to the convenience site.
