Heavy rains continue, leading to standing water on N.C. Highway 12
Deep, standing water from consecutive days of heavy rains was reported on multiple stretches of N.C. Highway 12, and especially in the Tri-villages area of Salvo, Waves and Rodanthe, leading to treacherous driving conditions as of Friday morning, May 29.
Scattered showers and storms will continue across eastern N.C. on Friday afternoon as the wet weather pattern continues. With already saturated ground and more storms expected through Saturday, flash flooding remains possible across eastern North Carolina through the weekend.
Travelers are advised to drive with caution, and to avoid flooded areas if possible.
A total of 1.5 to 2 inches of rain is expected by Saturday from the past week’s recent wave of heavy rainfall.
