Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 9 p.m. Thursday
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for all of Eastern North Carolina, including the Outer Banks, until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18.
Damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph are the primary threat, but isolated hail is also possible.
Additionally, any storms that form will produce torrential rainfall and could lead to isolated instances of flash flooding. Flash flooding concerns are highest along and north of Highway 264 in Eastern N.C., where heavier rains fell on Wednesday.
A high risk of rip currents also remains in effect for all beaches south of Cape Hatteras.
