Severe Weather Likely Monday Morning and Afternoon
A developing low pressure will track across the Outer Banks tomorrow morning and early afternoon, producing strong sustained winds, heavy downpours, isolated tornadoes and possible hail, per a Sunday evening update from the National Weather Service (NWS) Newport / Morehead City office.
The main threats will be strong sustained winds with damaging 55-75 mph wind gusts, as well as heavy downpours and the potential for localized flooding in poor drainage areas. Tornadoes are also possible, and the NWS advises all residents to ensure that they have multiple ways to receive warnings. This includes the NWS website at www.weather.gov/mhx,, broadcast media, NOAA Weather Radio, and / or access to a cell phone and social media.
